dB Toolkit — Privacy Policy

dB Toolkit is a sound level meter for iPhone, published by LetsGetStashd™ Ltd.
This app collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting service and no server. It makes no network requests of any kind — measuring is the whole of what it does, and it does it entirely on your device.
That is not a policy choice that could quietly change in an update without you noticing: the App Store listing's privacy label says Data Not Collected, and Apple requires that label to be corrected before any build that changes it can ship.
What the app uses, and why
Microphone — required
The app measures sound pressure, so it needs the microphone. There is no other way to do it.
When you start a recording session the app also saves an audio file on your device, so you can play back what was measured and hear whether the levels are describing what you think they are. Recording continues while the screen is locked or you are in another app, which is what makes an overnight measurement possible.
That audio never leaves your device unless you choose to share it. Deleting a session deletes its audio file with it.
Location — optional
The app takes a single GPS fix at the start of a recording session, so the report can say where the measurement was made. A measurement of noise with no location on it is much weaker as a record.
Location is not read at any other time — not while the meter is simply running, and not in the background. If you decline the location permission, everything else works; reports simply have no location on them.
Storage
Sessions, settings and your calibration figures are stored in the app's own container on your device. They are not backed up to any service by this app; whether they are included in your iCloud or computer backup is decided by your own iOS backup settings, not by the app.
What happens when you share a report
Exporting a PDF or CSV, or sharing an audio recording, hands the file to iOS's own share sheet. What happens to it after that is between you and whatever you send it to — an email, a messaging app, a cloud drive. The app is not involved and receives nothing back.
A report contains what you would expect it to: the date and times, the measured levels and statistics, the calibration state, any gaps in the measurement, and the GPS coordinates if one was captured. Read one before you send it if you would rather not share the location.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no information from anybody, of any age.
Purchases
If you buy the Pro unlock, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple. The app never sees your payment details, your Apple Account, or your name — only whether a purchase exists. Apple's own privacy policy covers that transaction.
Changes
If a future version ever collects anything, this page and the App Store privacy label will both say so before that version ships, and the app will ask.
