Fake Beer - Virtual Pint (Free) — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 September 2026. Describes version 1.0.1 of Fake Beer - Virtual Pint (Free), which adds Google's consent message for the UK, EEA and Switzerland.
Fake Beer - Virtual Pint (Free) is a photorealistic pint-pouring app for iPhone, published by LetsGetStashd™ Ltd. It is the ad-supported companion to the paid app, Fake Beer, and shares the same rendering code.
Unlike the paid app, Fake Beer - Virtual Pint (Free) shows ads and is not a "collects nothing" app. Beyond the ads described below, it collects nothing else: no account, no analytics, no crash reporting service of its own, and no server run by us. See "Advertising" below for what that means in practice.
The App Store listing's privacy label states what is actually collected, and Apple requires that label to be corrected before any build that changes it can ship.
Advertising
Fake Beer - Virtual Pint (Free) shows ads served by Google AdMob: a banner ad on the Settings screen, an occasional interstitial ad after repeated "have another go" taps, and one rewarded-video ad if you choose to unlock the Barwoman bar-person option (watching it is optional — Barman is always free, and everything about the drinks and games is identical either way).
AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers and other data to serve and measure those ads, as described in Google's own Privacy Policy. We do not receive or store that data ourselves. The app asks AdMob for non-personalised ads only, and never shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it does not track you.
If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent message the first time it opens, as the law there requires. You can change your answer at any time in Settings > Privacy choices.
What the app uses, and why
Camera — required
The app's whole premise is a glass that refracts the room behind it, so it needs the rear camera. Each frame goes straight to the graphics chip and is released — nothing is recorded, saved, or transmitted, and there is no photo library access and no video file ever written.
The one exception: finishing a game and choosing to share composes a single picture for you to send, and only then. If you decline camera access, everything else still works — the glass refracts a synthetic room instead of your real one.
Motion and orientation — required
Tilting the phone is how you pour and drink, so the app reads the device's motion and orientation sensors continuously while it is open. That data drives the physics on screen in real time and is never stored or sent anywhere by us — it is read, used for that frame, and discarded.
Storage
A small number of preferences — your last drink and glass shape, condensation amount, exposure/brightness, upside-down mode, whether Barwoman is unlocked, language override, and whether you've seen the onboarding — are stored locally on your device using iOS's standard app-preferences mechanism. They are not backed up to any service by this app; whether they are included in your iCloud or computer backup is decided by your own iOS backup settings, not by the app.
What happens when you share a result
Finishing a game and choosing to share hands a single composed picture to iOS's own share sheet. What happens to it after that is between you and whatever you send it to — a messaging app, social media, a photo library. The app is not involved beyond that point and receives nothing back.
A note on the content
The app's premise involves a glass of a drink — Lager, Bitter, Stout, Cider, Lemonade, Milk, Champagne, Red wine or White wine. There is no real alcohol involved, nothing is purchased, and the app itself has no age gate. Any age rating shown alongside the app on the App Store is Apple's own determination, made through its App Store age rating questionnaire, not something asserted here.
Children
The app is not directed at children. It is not designed for, marketed to, or knowingly used to collect information from children, and any ads it shows are not configured to be child-directed.
Purchases
Fake Beer - Virtual Pint (Free) has no purchases of any kind — every drink and game is free to use, and Barwoman unlocks for a short run of five appearances by watching a single rewarded ad rather than by paying. If you would rather have no ads at all, the paid app, Fake Beer, is a single one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple.
Changes
If a future version ever collects or shows anything beyond what is described here, this page and the App Store privacy label will both say so before that version ships.
